Mayflower Brewing Co. Releases Double IPA ‘398’
A 2018 Limited Release Beer Celebrating the Start of a Big Countdown
PRESS RELEASE / March 29, 2018 (Plymouth, MA ) – Mayflower Brewing Company is pleased to release 398, a new Double IPA at 8% ABV. Why is it called 398? Mayflower is counting up as you count down to the 400th Anniversary of America’s Hometown. 398 will be brewed throughout 2018, and over the next two years Mayflower will brew new beers called 399 and 400. These annual releases will not only satisfy consumer demand for new and innovative beers, but will also recognize the historical events that so define the Plymouth community.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to recognize the history of the region and produce some unique, limited edition beers for our customers. The 400th Anniversary is going to be a big deal around here, and we’re excited to help spread the word to folks throughout New England,” said Drew Brosseau, owner of Mayflower Brewing Company.
Mayflower will brew the beer throughout the year in limited batches and distribute it throughout the six New England states.
398 is an American Double IPA. Pale malt provides a solid base for a heavy dose of both Mosaic and Simcoe hops. Because Mosaic is a direct descendant of Simcoe, often called “The Daughter of Simcoe,” these aromas compliment and compound each other’s intensity. Specific aroma descriptors include pine, tangerine, grass, and passion fruit.
398 was initially released draft only several weeks ago. Now 4 packs of 16 ounce cans are available and heading out into the market. “We are excited to brew 398 regularly after it had such great feedback in the tasting room. The beer has a hefty dose of oats and wheat that gave it a silky, soft mouthfeel. Add to that the beautiful aromatics of Mosaic and Simcoe and you have a beer that will stand up to any Double IPA,” says brewer Jay Southwood.
Mayflower Brewing Company is a craft beer microbrewery located in historic Plymouth, Massachusetts. Retail and tasting hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8pm and Sunday, noon to 6pm. Tours of the Brewery are offered throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
