PRESS RELEASE / (Deerfield, MA) – On Saturday May 30th, 2026, Memorial Hall Museum is opening our most ambitious exhibit ever, titled “Brewing Massachusetts: How Beer Shaped the Bay State.” This exhibit, which helps celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, is supported by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT), Hendler Family Brewing, Harpoon Brewing, Abandoned Building Brewing, and Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company. Through rare artifacts, photographs, and documents, this exhibit will tell the story of Massachusetts brewers from the Pilgrims to the present. This exhibit will be held in a rebuilt Revolutionary era tavern and tickets will be $5. “The money raised by this exhibit will help fund the restoration of the incredible Bloody Brook Tavern in Old Deerfield, MA,” said exhibit curator Ray Radigan.
To celebrate the exhibit opening, Memorial Hall Museum created the Brewing the Revolution Scavenger Hunt. To honor this revolutionary history, this historic statewide event will bring participants to historic Revolutionary taverns and brewing sites across the state. The Scavenger hunt will take place from May 24th-June 27th, 2026. The scavenger hunt is open to everyone ages 13 and up, free to play, and participants can win a variety of prizes donated by businesses and organizations throughout Massachusetts.
Memorial Hall Museum is operated by Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, a non-profit founded in 1870 to preserve the stories of this region’s colonial settlers and its Indigenous Peoples, especially the Pocumtucks. Today, PVMA fosters interest in the entire local historic narrative to the present. It maintains a collection of artifacts and documents as a resource for scholars and the public, to provide future generations with a knowledge of the past. Brewing Massachusetts is supported by Franklin First Federal Credit Union, Yankee Candle Company, and MA250. Memorial Hall Museum is supported in part by Mass Cultural Council.
