A massive renovation, weekly events, taproom exclusives
and more reasons to Be Hoppy
PRESS RELEASE / April 4, 2026 (Worcester, MA) – Wormtown Brewery is thrilled to announce the grand reopening of its hometown taproom today, April 4, at 72 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester. Following a substantial renovation and expansion, the project nearly doubled the taproom’s footprint, transforming the space from 4,500 square feet to an expansive 8,609 square feet, and increasing overall capacity to accommodate 300 guests.
The new taproom features a communal bar area boasting 16 total taps, including a greater variety of Wormtown’s beloved core beers and exciting new releases. Guests will be able to catch all the action on nine new and strategically placed high-definition TVs (six in the main new room, two in the loft area, and one in the retail space).
Beer enthusiasts will find plenty to explore with at least two rotating R&D taps featuring experimental brews made with new recipes for future possible wholesale releases. Furthermore, the Worcester taproom will be the exclusive home for several special offerings, including: Be Kool (Fruit Punch DIPA), Be Lucky (Nitro Irish Stout), Seven Hills (Pils), Shrewsbury St. Wheat (American Wheat), Welcome to The Woo (American Light Lager).
Wormtown is launching a brand-new food menu led by Chef Casey Wilkins. Chef Wilkins has crafted a menu of reimagined childhood classics putting a sophisticated, grown-up twist on nostalgic favorites. The menu is designed to pair perfectly with Wormtown’s beer offerings, with highlights including Tater Tot Lamb Ragu Poutine, The Worcester Burger and Chicken Pot Pie.
“This renovation is about refining the experience we offer our community,” says Sam Hendler, CEO of Hendler Family Brewing Company. “Wormtown has always been rooted in all things Worcester, and this updated space allows us to be more thoughtful in how we welcome guests—whether that’s enjoying our beer, sharing a meal, or spending time together. It’s designed to feel more comfortable, more connected, and more reflective of the people who make this place what it is.”
To celebrate the local community, the taproom will be bringing the signature Harvey Ball Smiley Face to life with activations and a consistently happy atmosphere, with ongoing specials like $5 pints of Be Lucky (Nitro Irish Stout) and Welcome to The Woo (American Light Lager). The weekly schedule will include Industry Nights and Trivia to foster a fun, community-driven environment.
A key feature of the expansion is the introduction of a new dedicated private event space, with a semi private pergola surrounded by greenery. The new private event space provides an ideal setting for corporate functions, parties, and celebrations of all sizes. The new outdoor patio space is a seasonal gathering spot perfect for hanging out being hoppy.

Monday – Thursday, 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.
