Quincy’s Own Quarryman’s Reserve Takes Top Honors in American Light Lager Category
PRESS RELEASE / July 21, 2025 (Quincy, MA) – Break Rock Brewing is proud to announce that its lager, Quarryman’s Reserve, has been awarded a Gold Medal in the American Light Lager category at the 2025 U.S. Open Beer Championship—one of the most competitive and prestigious beer competitions in the country.
Forged at the edge of Quincy’s granite coast at Break Rock’s Marina Bay taproom, Quarryman’s Reserve is a crisp, clean, and refreshing take on the classic American light lager. At 4.7% ABV, it delivers all-day drinkability with precision and balance—an achievement that stands out in a category known for its technical difficulty and offering little margin for error.
The award is especially meaningful for Head Brewer and Co-Owner Vilija Bizinkauskas, who has meticulously refined the beer’s recipe since its debut under the name Hough’s Neck in July 2023.
“It’s an incredible honor to win gold in such a highly competitive category,” said Bizinkauskas. “There’s nowhere to hide in a beer like this—it has to be flawless. I’m proud of the work we put into getting Quarryman’s Reserve just right, and grateful to the judging panel for recognizing that effort.”
A native of Brockton, MA, and a longtime beer industry veteran, Bizinkauskas also serves as President of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas – New England Chapter, a leadership role elected by her brewing peers across the region.
Quarryman’s Reserve is available on draft and to-go in cans at Break Rock Brewing’s Marina Bay taproom.
