If you’re looking to drink craft beer right from the source, but with the splendor of the great outdoors, check out these 12 satellite brewery beer gardens in Metro Boston. All are seasonal pop-ups, meaning they’re open on a limited schedule and are weather dependent. Check their website or social media pages for opening dates and scheduling updates. At least three will start up next weekend.
We expect a few more exciting announcements in the next few weeks as well, so stay tuned. Below are details on the 11 that we know of so far, and we’ve plotted them all on an interactive map in the middle of the page.
Aeronaut’s Musical Beer Gardens: Neighborhood Nights Allston (opens May 15th) and Aeronaut Arlington ( opens June 1) will feature Aeronaut’s beer, plenty of music, a rotation of food trucks, and are pet and family-friendly. Allston operates on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights throughout the summer at Zone 3 on Western Ave. Arlington will operate on Saturdays from noon to 7:00, with rainouts being rescheduled on Sundays, in front of the Dallin Museum.
Brewers Alley at Boston Harbor Hotel: Located at the hotel’s Rowes Wharf Bar, Brewer’s Alley will feature a rotation of breweries, including Devil’s Purse between May 23 and June 19, Jack’s Abby from June 20 to July 17, Night Shift from July 18 to August 21, and Lord Hobo from August 22 to September 25. The final month will feature an Oktoberfest theme that includes 8 New England breweries and yours truly will be hosting its kick off party on Thursday, September 26th. The Brewer’s Alley beer garden will be open seven days a week, whether depending, and seats 100 guests.

Castle Island Brewing at Constitution Wharf: A seasonal pop-up beer garden at 1 Constitution Wharf in Charlestown that features a full draft list, games, serene views, and much more. The official announcement and dates of operation are forthcoming, so some details could change. Last year’s Wharf Hours were Thursday-Saturday from 2-10pm, and Sunday from 11-7pm.
Cisco Brewers Seaport Pop-Up: Cisco Brewers is again bringing a slice of Nantucket to Boston with its pop-up beer garden in Seaport. It features award-winning craft beer and wine, paired with raw bar and tacos from Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar. Located on Seaport Boulevard just west of District Hall (MBTA Silver Line Courthouse Station), it kicks off on May 14th and will be open 7 days a week.
Craft Collective Beer Garden at SoWa Open Market: Created in partnership with Craft Collective, the SoWa Beer Garden returns on Sunday, May 5, but with a new format for 2019. This season, SoWa will act as a rotating pop-up, set to feature some of the regions best brewers. Different brewers will take over the taps and pour a variety of beers typically reserved for their respective taprooms for periods ranging from one-to-four weeks. Night Shift’s Owl’s Nest Beer Gardens: The two expanded-for-2019 riverfront locations along the Charles (one at the Esplanade and another in Allston) are family-friendly setups with lawn games and flexible seating. Opening date for both locations is May 4 and will run from Wednesday through Sunday, whether permitting, and the newly situated Herter Park location (other side of the Amphitheater, closer to the parking lot and public gardens) will have offer more dates and expanded hours.
An Evening With Tree House: The latest brewery to throw its hat into the Metro Boston beer garden ring is none other than Tree House, who recently announced plans to pop up for four special evenings on the lawn of the south garden at the Prudential Center in Copley Square. Dates are June 13 & 27 as well as July 18 & 25, and hours are 5:00 to 9:00. A selection of eight Tree House beers will be available and music will be provided by a number of Berklee College musicians.
Trillium Garden on the Greenway: Trillium Garden on the Greenway officially announced that it will return for a third year, though now opening date has been set. It will again operate at the corner of High Street and Atlantic Avenue, across from Rowes Wharf and will offer an even wider variety of beers on draft include light and refreshing new signature lagers, as well as their rotating Fresh Press selections. Wine will also be on the menu courtesy of Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery. The hours of operation are: Wednesday – Friday 2–10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Sunday noon – 6 p.m. The will open for the season on Thursday, May 16.
Wachusett’s Pints on the Patios: Boston’s highly-acclaimed seasonal activation, The Patios, will return to City Hall Plaza on Monday, May 6. The space will officially open to the public at 5:00 p.m. The City Hall Plaza beer garden will be open seven days a week, featuring Wachusett beer (and a weekly guest tap), Fifty Trees Hard Cider, a new Scratch Cocktails Margarita, and Nauti Hard Seltzers. Eats will include locally sources food options and an evening food truck program, as well as a new Sunday Grilling program. And there’s still free mini-golf, and even a chance to play with puppies.
City Winery on the Greenway: An outdoor pop-up wine garden operating four days a week, featuring locally crafted red, white, and rosé wines as well as craft beer and cider from Harpoon Brewery. They will also offer a Mediterranean-inspired menu of charcuterie, cheeses, olives and nuts, as well as scheduled live music events. Hours of operation are Wednesdays (3:30pm-10pm), Fridays (3:30pm-10pm), Saturdays (1pm -9pm) & Sundays (11am -7pm) from May to October. The grand opening will be on Wednesday, May 15.
