• The Marlborough Community Cupboard (MCC).  The food pantry provides a week’s worth of groceries each month to families and individuals in need.  MCC offers a Senior Mobile Market that provides free delivery of groceries to homebound seniors each month.   Staff are also available to connect pantry clients with additional human services. MCC also offers free clothing and household items to clients.
• Ready to Read.  UWTC’s early literacy program is currently offered in Framingham and Milford and provides 12 new books a year to at-risk children from birth until they enter kindergarten.  Helping children build their own home library sparks an interest in reading and helps prepare young children with the skills they need to be learn how to read when they enter school.
• Call2Talk, the mental health/suicide prevention line of the Mass2-1-1 state-wide phone system.
United Way’s 24/7 statewide suicide prevention and mental health call and text line.  In 2017, call-takers answered more than 45,000 calls providing free non-judgmental support to individuals experiencing emotional distress. Through Call2Talk’s TeleCheck program, trained older adult volunteers make outgoing peer-to-peer calls to other seniors who have been identified as needing mental health support.  Participation in TeleCheck also helps volunteers maintain social connectivity and purpose

“The Jack’s Abby/United Way 5K is an opportunity for everyone to come out and support the community, have fun, and support local businesses that give back,” said Paul Mina, President & CEO at the United Way of Tri-County.  “There are too many children, seniors, veterans, families and individuals going hungry, living with depression, or struggling in school. We are extremely grateful that Jack’s Abby is so generously lending support to this event that will fund critical programs in the region.”

Long sleeve t-shirts will be given to the first 250 runners to register and goodie bags to the first 200 to sign up.  Prizes will be awarded after the race to the top male and female in eight age categories as well as the first and second place male and female runners overall.  Special awards will be presented to top individual fundraiser and team fundraisers. About Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers

Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers has been brewing world class lager using traditional German standards and American innovation since 2011.  Founded by three brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler, Jack’s Abby has become a mainstay of the craft brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide.  Brewing lager, and only lager, has allowed American consumers to celebrate the rich history of German brewers and expand their palettes at the same time.  Jack’s Abby challenges the idea that American lager belongs to macro brewers, elevating its position in the craft beer marketplace.
