PRESS RELEASE / May 9, 2018 (Boston, MA) – For Bostonians looking to toast the hoppy couple with the official royal beer, Fairmont Copley Plaza has secured bottles of Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot beer from Windsor & Eton Brewery in the UK, and we are likely the only place in Boston (and maybe MA, and maybe the country!) to carry it on the day of their upcoming nuptials, Saturday, May 19.

The special edition Royal Wedding Pale Ale has caused quite a stir across the globe when it was announced (People, Travel & Leisure, Reuters, Express.co.uk) because of its special blend of hops and the locally grown barley – see description below. Once news broke, the hotel’s Food & Beverage Director, Tim Clapp, immediately got in contact with the brewery to try and get the beer for our Royal Wedding Viewing Party and to also sell at the hotel’s restaurant, OAK Long Bar + Kitchen.

We had 48 bottles shipped over, and now have 47 beers for both the party and OAK Long Bar + Kitchen (the team here of course opened one to try it!) 23 bottles will be offered at our Viewing Party first-come-first-serve and is included in the ticket price, and OAK Long Bar + Kitchen will offer the remaining 24 at its bar – and any leftover bottles from the Viewing Party – starting at 8:00 a.m. that Saturday, first-come-first-serve, for $12 a bottle.

Tim spoke to a sales manager at Windsor & Eton Brewery who said “As far as I’m aware – there were no other [Boston] hotels/restaurants that expressed interest in this product. Amazing to have one of our beers at such a prestigious hotel.” We’ve kept the news mum and just shared on Twitter today. Please let me know if you’re interested to cover or if you need more photo options.

HARRY & MEGHAN’S WINDSOR KNOT

The only royal wedding beer using barley grown locally on the Royal Farms right here in Windsor. We use a special blend of British hops called Invicta in recognition of Prince Harry’s role in creating the Invictus Games, with some great American West Coast hops and champagne yeast as a finishing touch. Marrying these ingredients creates a new pale ale that is young, fresh and full of character.
