The Beer Garden at Prairie Fire features a rotational program of local favorites and up-and-coming breweries, including those brewing within 35 miles or less of the restaurant: Lamplighter Brewing (Cambridge, MA), Idle Hands Craft Ales (Malden MA), and Stellwagen Beer Co. (Marshfield MA).  Nodding to New England’s incredible beer culture, Prairie Fire also offers pours from breweries like Vermont Beer Makers (Springfield VT), Upper Pass Beer Co. (South Royalton, VT) and Schilling Beer Co. (Littleton NH). In addition to its robust beer menu, Prairie Fire’s full beverage program is also available in the Beer Garden, featuring a smart mix of old and new world wines. Guests should not be fooled by the no-fuss cocktail list; it represents a snapshot of sister restaurant Steel & Rye’s drink menu with a focus on technique, consistency, fresh and preserved produce, and thoughtfully curated spirits.

With its own distinct dining menu, summer highlights from The Beer Garden include a Raw Bar with local oysters from Wellfleet (Wellfleet, MA), Joly (Dennis, MA), and Mookie Blues (Damariscotta, ME), as well as Tuna Crudo with soy rhubarb vinaigrette, pickled cherries and sea beans.

The Steel & Rye Bakery Bavarian Pretzel is a perfect starter, as isRhode Island Style Calamari. The Charcoal Grilled Bratwurst with sauerkraut and whole grain mustard achieves Beer Garden perfection, and the Fried Fish Sandwich with preserved lemon tartar, shredded lettuce, and pickles dresses up fresh New England seafood.

Prairie Fire’s renowned wood fired pizzas, crafted from housemade sourdough and cooked over kiln dried New England oak and maple wood are also on the menu. They include Margherita, Mushroom, Fennel & Sausage, Clam, and The Classics (Cheese/Pepperoni).

While the menu is casual, the culinary team’s background is anything but. Chef/Partner Brendan Joy has overseen both Steel & Rye and Prairie Fire since 2016, and is a New Englander with an unbeatable pedigree, cooking at SPQR in San Francisco and Lincoln in Manhattan. Executive Chef Andrew Iacono is a Massachusetts native who has spent the last eleven years cooking across the country, returning to Boston for the opportunity to be close to family and to collaborate with Kerrigan and Joy. Iacono was most recently at the Michelin starred Single Thread Farms in Sonoma, and also spent years at the Michelin starred Alinea and El Ideas in Chicago.
