Beer to Honor Worcerster PD Officer Manuel Familia
PRESS RELEASE / November 3, 2021 (Worcester, MA) – On November 4 th family, friends and fellow officers of Manuel “Manny” Familiawill gather at Wormtown Brewery, on 72 Shrewsbury St, Worcester, MA to honor Manny who was truly one of Worcester’s finest.
Doors will open at 12, as Manny’s family, friends and fellow officers will join local Worcester dignitaries for a toast to Manny and each and every member of the Worcester Police Community. “This is a wonderful tribute to Officer Familia by a great community partner,” City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. said. “Worcester never forgets its heroes, and Wormtown Brewery, just as they did last year for fallen Worcester firefighter Lt. Jason Menard with ‘Worcester’s Bravest,’ has come up with a unique way to forever honor Manny, who truly was one of ‘Worcester’s Finest.’”
David Fields, partner at Wormtown Brewery said, “While we are always sad to brew a charity beer for a fallen member of Worcester’s First Responder community, our staff takes immense pride in the effort. We believe it is our duty as part of the fabric of the City of Worcester to do our part and help Officer Familia’s Family financially as well as providing a day of healing and raise a toast to Manny.”
100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Familia Family Memorial Fund and the 267 Foundation. These foundations were established by the family to allow for donations to support Manny’s children in addition to providing much needed equipment and training to members of the Worcester Police Department.
“We are so thankful for our community and businesses like Wormtown Brewery that have found creative ways to remember Manny and keep his legacy alive,” said Chief Steven M. Sargent. “I am grateful that Wormtown Brewery will generously be donating proceeds to the Manny 267 foundation which helps to put life-saving equipment into police vehicles and provides swimming lessons to those who need them.”
The beer style for Worcester’s Finest is a Mexican-style lager. According to Manny’s family, that was his favorite beer style. Worcester’s Finest is an easy drinking, light crisp malt forward lager with floral, bready aroma, a complex flavor, and a clean finish.
