PRESS RELEASE / April 18, 2023 (Boston, MA) – The Sam Adams Boston Brewery and Boston Calling have partnered to create the perfect festival beer.
We decided to buck the hopped-up, hazy IPA trends and brew a beer we believe best pairs with live music, an American Light Lager. Stage Lites Lager was crafted for sessionability so that it can be enjoyed across three days as 51 bands take the stage at Boston Calling.
Releasing on April 21st, Stage Lites Lager will be available on draft and in cans exclusively at the Sam Adams Boston Brewery in Jamaica Plain. To celebrate this collaboration, Boston-based Blue Light Bandits, who will be playing the festival in May, will be playing a ticketed show at the brewery’s R&D brewhouse as the first kegs are tapped and cans are cracked.
Leading into the festival, the Boston Brewery will also be hosting Sam Session Mini Music Festival on May 25th, featuring 5 local acts playing back-to-back in the Beer Garden. This free event will feature bands like Earl on Earth, Alex & The People, and more. For both events, Cousin’s Maine Lobster food truck will be on-site, and we’ll be raffling off 3-day passes to Boston Calling.
And of course, during the festival Stage Lites Lager will be available in the VIP section of Boston Calling while supplies last. More details about the release party and Sam Sessions can be found below.

Our passion for never settling, and brewing quality, flavorful beers started with our founder, Jim Koch. He brewed the first batch of Boston Lager in his kitchen – a recipe that belonged to his great-great-grandfather that he found in his father’s attic back in the early 1980’s. Today, Samuel Adams is one of the world’s most awarded breweries and remains focused on crafting the highest quality beers through innovation and experimentation in the relentless pursuit of better.
