Seasonal Donuts Available October 1 with the Unveiling of the Night Shift Pumpkin Piescraper Donut and Stormalong Boston Heirloom Cider Donut
PRESS RELEASE / September 28, 2023 (Boston, MA) – Kane’s Donuts is pleased to announce two limited-edition seasonal donuts with fall favorites from Night Shift Brewing and Stormalong Cider to bring customers the Night Shift Pumpkin Piescraper Donut and the Stormalong Boston Heirloom Cider Donut! These scrumptious fall flavors are in stores beginning October 1 and available through October at all three Kane’s Donuts’ locations: Kane’s Lincoln Ave (120 Lincoln Ave. in Saugus); Kane’s Rt. 1 (1575 Broadway, on Rt. 1 at Essex Landing in Saugus), and Kane’s Downtown (90 Oliver St. in Boston’s Financial District, at International Place).
Tapping into Night Shift’s Pumpkin Piescraper pumpkin beer, Kane’s has crafted yet another seasonal delight. The Night Shift Pumpkin Piescraper Donut is a delicious cake-style pumpkin donut loaded with fresh pumpkin, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon, then drenched in a glaze made with reduced Pumpkin Piescraper that has been infused in Kane’s Signature Honey Glaze. Kane’s Stormalong Boston Heirloom Cider Donut is a cake-style apple cider donut with a touch of cinnamon, drenched in a glaze made from reduced Boston Heirloom cider that has been infused in their Signature Honey Glaze. All alcohol cooks off during the reduction process making both these donuts safe for all ages.
“Our loyal customers love when we work together with New England brewers and cider makers to celebrate the flavors of the season,” says Kane’s Donuts’ Co-Owner and Donut Master, Maria Delios. “The Night Shift Pumpkin Piescraper Donut and the Stormalong Boston Heirloom Cider Donut are sure to be their new fall favorites.”
Night Shift’s Pumpkin Piescraper is a pie-inspired beer brewed with pumpkin, vanilla beans, fall spices, maple syrup, and milk sugar. It sips rich and delicious, with notes of toasted marshmallow, fall spices, and maple. To find this seasonal beer and more, visit https://nightshiftbrewing.com/.
“When we heard that Kane’s – a beloved local brand and staff favorite – wanted to make a donut with our Pumpkin Piescraper, our first question was where the line would start to get some,” jokes Michael Oxton, Night Shift Co-Founder. “This collab celebrates two local brands combining what each of us does best into a delicious fall treat.”
In homage to the rich cider history rooted in New England, Stomalong’s ‘Boston Heirloom’ is made with a blend of Roxbury Russet and Boston Heirloom apple cultivars. These apples were initially bred in the Boston area in the mid 1700’s, making them some of the oldest apple varietals in the United States. Roxbury Russet and Baldwin apples were commonly used in hard cider up until the 1930’s when prohibition and other external forces wiped out the hard cider industry. The rich acidity of these heirloom apples yields a citrusy tartness reminiscent of champagne. To find their products, visit the stormalong.com.
“Apples and donuts go hand and hand here in New England in the Fall,” says Stormalong founder Shannon Edgar. “When we had a chance to partner with fellow Massachusetts-based Kane’s on this project we wanted to take it up a notch from your standard ‘cider donut’ approach. Using Boston Heirloom, a hard cider that features historical apple varieties from Massachusetts, was a delicious way to highlight the unique flavors of heirloom apples in this recipe.”
Kane’s will also be offering a Maple Honey Glazed Donut for the month of October. This cake-style donut is crispy on the outside and tender in the middle and is dipped in a glaze made from Kane’s signature honey glaze, made with real Vermont Maple Syrup from Cold Hollow Cider in Vermont.
Kane’s Donuts is New England’s signature donut shop, ranked top-10 in the United States for serving handcrafted donuts that are made fresh daily, and with local ingredients. Known for a fantastic daily selection of flavors and rotating monthly flavors, its continuous 68 years of service began with Kane’s’ landmark location, which opened in 1955 in Saugus, MA on Lincoln Ave. It remains a local favorite for serving homemade donuts, seven days a week. For its 60th anniversary in March 2015, Kane’s opened a second location in the heart of Boston’s financial district at International Place; and in March 2019, Kane’s expanded with Kane’s Rt. 1 in Saugus, its largest location with a drive-through at Essex Landing. In 2018, Kane’s was named “Best Donut” by both Boston Magazine and the Improper Bostonian, and in 2019 won “Best of the North Shore” by North Shore magazine.
