December Specials Kick Off with the Unveiling of the Bully Boy Boston Rum Eggnog Donut

PRESS RELEASE / November 30, 2023 (Boston, MA and Saugus, MA) – Kane’s Donuts is pleased to announce a collaboration with Boston-based Bully Boy Distillers for a limited-edition December flavor of the month – the Bully Boy Boston Rum Eggnog Donut. This delicious donut creation will be available in December at all three Kane’s Donuts locations: Kane’s Lincoln Ave (120 Lincoln Ave. in Saugus); Kane’s Rt. 1 (1575 Broadway, on Rt. 1 at Essex Landing in Saugus), and Kane’s Downtown (90 Oliver St. in Boston’s Financial District, at International Place).

Using Bully Boy Distiller’s Boston Rum, Kane’s has crafted a seasonal delight with classic holiday flavors. The Bully Boy Boston Rum Eggnog Donut is a cake-style donut, made with Bully Boy’s Boston Rum, Pure Country Eggnog, and fresh ground nutmeg, then drenched in Kane’s signature honey glaze.

“The holidays are about family and traditions, and so are we,” says Kane’s Donuts’ Co-Owner and Donut Master, Maria Delios. “That’s exactly why we and our customers enjoy when we partner with like-minded companies like Bully Boy Distillers to create donuts that celebrate the holiday spirit and flavors of the season.”

Bully Boy’s Boston Rum is one of their original spirits. They use a mix of blackstrap molasses, which imparts vanilla notes, and sweet molasses, which has a cleaner, fruitier flavor. The combination creates a really unique, nuanced taste. An important part of their “house flavor” is created during distillation, when they choose which parts of the spirit to keep and which parts to discard. By including a little more of the front end of the “run,” also known as “heads,” they get some nice banana and pineapple notes that complement the more traditional molasses flavors. Finally, they age the spirit in used whiskey barrels, which not only mellow the rum, but also add layers of complexity: Chocolate, vanilla, oak and more that all comes from the barrel.

“Creating something special for the holiday season with Kane’s Donuts is a great opportunity for us to showcase our Boston Rum to those who may not have tried it before,” said Will Willis, Co-founder of Bully Boy Distillers. “There is no better pairing for the winter season than fresh donuts and warm ingredients like rum and eggnog.”

For the month of December, Kane’s is also featuring holiday favorites like their Red Velvet Donut, a chocolatey, red velvet cake-style dough, drenched in Kane’s’ signature honey glaze. It is then topped with a light, fluffy vanilla cream frosting and holiday sprinkles. Other holiday specials include the Merry Christmas Donut, a light, fluffy yeast-style donut with vanilla frosting and festive decorations, and the

Gingerbread Donut, a cake-style donut made with crystallized ginger and molasses, then drenched in Kane’s signature honey glaze and drizzled with vanilla icing and Christmas sprinkles. Kane’s will also have a Gluten-Free version of their Gingerbread Donut and a Vegan Snowball Donut, a cake-style donut with cinnamon and nutmeg smothered in confectioners’ sugar.
