Boston-based PR and Marketing Agency Promotes Gift Card Purchases from Residents and Cash Matches from Small Businesses – Totaling $2,000 for the Restaurant – with Pro Bono Marketing and Publicizing Efforts
PRESS RELEASE / April 22, 2020 (Boston, MA) — DPA Communications is encouraging small businesses throughout Massachusetts to support their favorite restaurant in their town as part of the “Loving Locals” initiative by matching gift card purchases from hometown residents with a cash match contribution directly to the restaurant. The Loving Locals initiative will run from now through Monday, May 4, 2020, the last day of the statewide ban on restaurants to remain closed for dine-in-service.
Earlier this month, one of DPA Communications’ clients pledged a $1,000 maximum cash match contribution directly to one of its restaurant clients for every dollar spent on gift card purchases up to $1,000 in total gift card sales. Within twenty-four hours, the restaurant received well over $1,000 in total gift card purchases from its residents and others from surrounding towns. Seeing the success of this initiative led the team at DPA Communications to take action and encourage other small businesses across the state to replicate the same initiative for a favorite restaurant in its hometown.
DPA Communications will spearhead the call-to-action, accepting emails from businesses who want to participate on behalf of a specific restaurant. DPA will then create and distribute press releases and marketing materials to the media outlets in their respective communities encouraging readers to support by purchasing gift cards from the restaurant’s website. If a small business would like to participate, but doesn’t have a specific restaurant in mind, DPA will provide a few options for the business to choose from. Extra consideration will be given to restaurants who made the difficult decision to stop takeout and delivery, shutting down operations completely to ensure staff and employees are home, healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses interested in participating can email lovinglocals@dpacommunications.com. Businesses and restaurants will also be featured on the Loving Locals Instagram page.
“The restaurant industry is getting completely decimated, and it is a real possibility that some of our favorite restaurants, both new and old, may not be in position to re-open when the dine-in ban is lifted,” said Dominic Amenta, founder and principal at DPA Communications. “We saw first-hand what can happen when a small business pledges to support their favorite restaurant, while rallying the residents of the town to do the same, with gift card purchases in any and all denominations. $1,000 in combined gift card purchases, and another $1,000 cash match from a small business, just might buy a restaurant owner the extra time necessary to not make the decision to close his or her doors for good.”
