Back for its 6th year, this event features raw bars with oysters from all over Cape Cod, Shucker’s Reward Oyster Stout, live music & educational exhibits to benefit Barnstable Clean Water Coalition.

PRESS RELEASE / September 26, 2023 (Hyannis MA) – Shuck! A Day of Oysters & Beer returns for the fifth year at Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis. The autumn event is meant to highlight the wide variety of oysters that Cape Cod offers as well as their economic and ecological impact on the region. Cape Cod Beer is once again partnering with Big Rock Oyster and Cape Cod Oyster for a day-long event celebrating all things oysters, to be held at Cape Cod Beer’s brewery on Saturday September 30th from 12-5pm. Now an annual event, the set up will be like years past with 8 different varieties of oysters available to try as well as littlenecks and shrimp – each from a different location on Cape Cod. Along with raw bars, locally brewed beer, wine and cider, JP’s Twisted BBQ will be on-site serving chowder and an array of other delicious bites from their food truck.

The educational partner and non-profit organization Barnstable Clean Water Coalition (BCWC) will have displays and personnel onsite to talk about shell fishing’s positive impact on the Cape’s blue economy and water quality. The popular local band Johnny Hoy & The Bluefish headlines the music for the day at 2pm, with local singer/songwriter Natalia Bonfini opening for them. There will also be a variety of local makers that will be on site with items available for purchase such as, Washershore Jewelry, Cape Cloth, Mermaids of Cape Cod, Cape Cod Cutlery, SLYK Shades & more! Cape Cod Beer’s Shucker’s Reward Oyster Stout, an Irish extra stout made with oysters from across Cape Cod will also be available at the event.

When asked about the return of this event, co-founder Beth Marcus said “This event has become a staple for us. Over the years we have created such great relationships with the local oystermen, the hardworking folks at BCWC and so much more. We love being able to bring together so many people in the community for such a fun day that is all benefiting a great cause. And besides – is there anything better than oysters & beer?!”

There are only 800 tickets available for this event – and it did sell out last year – if you plan to attend it is encouraged to purchase your tickets in advance. Tickets for the event can be purchased at http://www.capecodbeer.com/shuck2023. While Cape Cod Beer has on-site parking; carpooling is encouraged to help reduce congestion.
