Vitamin Sea Brewing founder Dino Funari held many a brew day in his basement in Hull back when it was just a home brewing operation. He was hopeful to open a brewery and taproom in the seaside town, but after an exhaustive search for a suitable location, Vitamin Sea instead opened on Moore Road in Weymouth in 2019.
“We still have a real connection to Hull from our early days of brewing and wanted to have a presence in the town, so we proposed a beer garden,” Funari said.
This connection to Hull and its community led to discussions with the Hull Redevelopment Authority about a temporary beer garden. Those talks proved to be fruitful as an 11-Day pop-up beer garden will open today at the intersection of Hull Shore Drive and Nantasket Avenue.

With views of the ocean, patrons can sit at tables and Adirondack chairs that are spread about. Vitamin Sea beer will be draft pours only from their tap truck (no cans will be available from this location) and the taplist will change daily. Seltzer and non-alcoholic ginger ale will be available as well. For food, QR codes are affixed to each table to order from local restaurants. Funari said the beer garden will be a family-friendly environment with dogs allowed as well.
Funari is still hopeful to establish a permanent Vitamin Sea location in Hull and hopes this beer garden will lead to that. “A second taproom location in Hull would be ideal. And we’d love to be a part of the Paragon Park and Boardwalk revitalization effort,” he said.
The 150-person Pop-Up Beer Garden at 5 Hull Shore Drive Nantasket Beach will run from August 12-22 and hours are 11a-7p. There is no parking on site, but some free parking is available along Hull Shore Drive with pay to park lots nearby.
