Weekend Features Special Oktoberfest Food and Drink
and Live Music Including Jacob Wirth’s Piano Man Mel Stiller
PRESS RELEASE / OCTOBER 1, 2018 (Boston, MA) – Democracy Brewing, the city’s first and only cooperatively owned and worker-operated brewery and brew-pub, is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration from October 5th to 7th at its 35 Temple Place location. Brewing Director Jason Taggart will debut five new Oktoberfest-style beers, including the Sticke Alt, a cask-conditioned amber altbier, a Rauchbier, an amber smoked lager with beechwood smoked malt, and the Export Amber, an easy-drinking American-style Oktoberfest beer. Additionally, Head Chef Ben Waxler will be serving his take on a traditional German menu specially paired with each beer including wiener schnitzel, sauerkraut, potato salad, and Kulmbacher Bratwurst, a long and thin Bavarian veal sausage.
Guests can also enjoy live music throughout the weekend in the brewery’s German-style beer hall design, and one of the main highlights will be Mel Stiller finding a new home at Democracy Brewing. For nearly three decades, Mel has been leading Boston’s most unique piano bar with a catalogue of over 500 oldies and rock songs of the ‘50’s, ‘60’s and ‘70’s and song books for all to join in. After a tragic fire that forced Jacob Wirth to close indefinitely, Stiller will once again bring our community together through food, drink, and song. Mel will help kick off the Oktoberfest on Friday at 8:30 and will be appearing every Friday moving forward.
The full weekend Oktoberfest schedule will be:
Friday, October 5: 8:30pm – Sing Along with Mel Stiller, Jacob Wirth’s favorite sing-along piano player
Saturday, October 6: 2:00pm – TubaFrau Hofbräu, traditional oompah band from Waltham, MA
Sunday, October 7: 5:00pm – Opera on Tap performing traditional German works
