PRESS RELEASE / November 11, 2019 (Scituate, MA) – Untold Brewing has partnered up with local Scituate painter Becky O’Toole for our newest beer release-With Purpose, a super juicy IPA with Ella, Citra & Mosaic.
A few years ago, Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer, and very shortly thereafter, with leukemia. She had two young daughters at the time, and both diseases required her to spend more than 100 days in the hospital, often times in isolation (in this case, not only are patients not allowed to have visitors, but they can’t have flowers or anything else that might be a risk for people with weakened immune systems). Her husband bought her some canvas and a set of paints, and she started getting up every day and painting; Joye in Scituate harbor was the first shop to buy a painting, and she credits that moment with saving her life. Painting gave her purpose to keep fighting every day, and she now visits the hospital monthly for check-ups and distributes paintings to patients in isolation for a little bit of light in the darkness. We chose 4 of Becky’s paintings to turn into beer labels for With Purpose. Becky also chose 4 of her favorite local non-profits to be benefitted by the sale of this beer: The Scituate Animal Shelter, The North South Rivers Watershed Association, Alice’s House and The Scituate Education Foundation. You can more info about each non-profit on our website. $1 from every pour and $1 from every can sold will be split evenly and donated back to all four non-profits. Becky has donated the four original paintings that inspired the can artwork to be auctioned off, and each non-profit has donated an auction item as well.
With Purpose will be released on Saturday 11/16 at 12 pm. We’ll have a pop-up art gallery, tunes by local musician Matt Chase, and food from Cape-based Pizza Wolves. For those who can’t make it Saturday, we’re offering folks a special pre-release opportunity to purchase the beer before it goes on sale to the public. A $10 donation to our selected non-profits gets you early access to the beer on draft and in cans on Friday 11/15 at 5 pm. I’m going to start promoting today on social, and all this week we’ll be showcasing the awesome cans and selected non-profits.We’re hoping to kick off the giving season early! We’re really proud of this beer and the efforts our entire team has put in on this one, and we continue to be inspired by Becky every day.
