By experimenting with both lager and ale yeast strains, the brewers at Sam Adams came up with the concept for a brand new beer – Sam ’76. This truly unique brew takes two active fermentations and blends them together to create a deliciously harmonious result. This process delivevers a distinct flavor that showcases the slight fruitiness of an ale with the balanced drinkability and smoothness of a lager. Sam ’76 will surprise any craf beer lover with its huge flavor and aroma along with a light-bodied, refreshing crispness. At just 4.7% ABV, this brew is perfect for those sessionable occasions. Cascade, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Galaxy hops impart a tropical citrus aroma that gives way to a bright, juicy citrus hop flavor but without the hop bitterness. The brewers have been experimenting for over a year, tested over 60 iterations with multiple combinations of 12 di erent hop varieties in the nano brewery in Boston in order to perfect the Sam ’76 recipe.

I tried the 76 lager/ale been and found it delightful. I wish I knew the calories. It’s good to try a new beer once in a while, and I always enjoyed regular San Adams.

Does Sam 76 have grapefruit as one of the ingredients?
I love Big IPAs but they start to all taste the same. And I can crush miller lites on the beach all day but…This is by far my favorite beer of all time. Hits it on both ends. Nothing better in my humble opinion.
They seem to have changed it now just called a lager and i personally can taste the difference

Its been relabled and noticed the ale flavor has been toned down now the can just say its a lager.
Still has a good taste but in no way tastes the same as it did before. Kind of dissapointed as i enjoyed it how it was a lager/ale. Now its just a lager and if your like me i can definetly taste the change. Thats ashame they did that. Was better the other way this shouldnt be called 76 no more. Taste is totally different.
I have finally tried your Sam 76 as I would not drink it from a can and I will not drink anything from a can now that we have had it in the bottle come to Maine and in your variety packs I have tried it and it is a crisp clean flaver with notes of white grapefruit I am intrigued as it tastes very much like the red rebel IPA only in a lager
