TRheir yearly cold weather festival celebrates strong bier\, Bavarian fare & live Volkstümliche musik\, as well as the hot poke from their LOGGERHEAD that delivers a warm marshmallow like foam on top of the cold starkbier. \nThis Bavarian hot poke tradition called “bierstacheln” was kept alive in the US by the Schell Brewery in Minnesota\, and Notch honors them as the hot poke kings (brewers\, you should too…). The misperception is that the beer caramelizes\, but it is the FOAM that caramelizes and the beer stays relatively cold. How? Science. Come to Starkbierfest and they’ll explain.
