The Perfect Beverage for America’s Hometown Holiday

PRESS RELEASE / October 23, 2017 Plymouth, MA – Mayflower Brewing Company, America’s Hometown brewery, is pleased to release Thanksgiving Ale, a full-bodied beer brewed with a rich array of barley and rye malts and aged several weeks on toasted oak. Brewed annually in Autumn since 2009, Thanksgiving Ale is an inspired blend of two brewing styles: American Strong Ale and English Old Ale. Aged on American white oak, this full-bodied brew warms the soul with hints of caramel, vanilla and spicy nuts. The flavors of Thanksgiving Ale pair perfectly with the bountiful variety of foods we feast on throughout this season of harvest.

Share Mayflower Thanksgiving Ale this holiday season

Mayflower is the only brewery in the country brewing a beer for the Thanksgiving holiday. While there are many seasonal Fall beers and Christmas beers, it makes perfect sense that America’s Hometown Brewery upholds the tradition and looks forward to brewing this beer each year.  The recipe has been the same for the past eight years. Because the beer ages well, Mayflower sees regular customers return to the brewery year after year to grab some to enjoy in the coming weeks, and some to store for the coming years. “Thanksgiving Ale has always been a staple for Thanksgiving dinner. People begin asking when it will be out in the summer, and by mid November we see numerous customers who are making their ‘pilgrimage’ from all parts of New England just to get the Beer. I like to believe it gives a great story to tell as they share it around their dinner table,” says Sarah Annis, Mayflower’s Tasting Room Manager.

Mayflower Brewing Co. is distributing Thanksgiving Ale in 16oz cans

This year Thanksgiving Ale is packaged in 16 ounce cans for the first time. The switch to cans was driven by Mayflower’s overall shift from bottling to canning as well as the consumer’s interest in 4 packs of 16 ounce cans. The 4 pack makes for a delicious host/hostess gift throughout the holiday season. The new packaging will not affect the aging of the beer.  With the switch, Mayflower was able to brew more to meet the growing demand. It will be shipped to markets throughout the six New England states. However the supply is still limited, so Mayflower does encourage you to check your local stores early.  Beyond that, a trip to the brewery for a pint, 4 pack, or growler fill is always an option!

Mayflower Brewing Company is a craft beer microbrewery located in historic Plymouth, Massachusetts. Founded in 2007 by a tenth great grandson of John Alden, beer barrel cooper on board the Mayflower, Mayflower is dedicated to celebrating the history and legacy of the Pilgrims by creating unique, high-quality ales for the New England market. The team brews and packages all of their beer at their 12,000 square foot production facility in Plymouth and uses only traditional brewing methods and ingredients. Their product line includes a set of year-round beers that honor traditional English ales, seasonal beers that celebrate the New England weather, and small batch releases that give them a chance to try out new ideas. The tasting room is open to the public and is family (and pet) friendly, offering a variety of branded apparel, growler fills, free samples, full tasting flights, pints and packaged beer. Retail and tasting hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8pm and Sunday, noon to 6pm. Tours of the Brewery are offered throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
